Much of the forest have now been replaced with rolling tea plantations and with cardamom plants carpetting the damp, forest floor where most of the tigersand leopards have gone and some elephants and wildlife remain. Among the fauna there is some exotic flora found in the forest and grass lands, the Neelakurinji. A flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years will bloom again in 2006 AD.
