raheemresidencyRaheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognised by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India.

Originally built by an Englishman it was the home of the Raheem’s, an eminent Alleppey  family, for one hundred years.

Expect an intimate personalised service that respects your privacy in a sophisticated Indian setting with echoes of the Raj

ROOMS
In the main house there are six A/C spacious high-ceilinged bedrooms with traditional Kerala furniture.Bathrooms are ensuite and include one which is open to the skies The large hall has a high teakwood ceiling which had been concealed for generations. The windows have glass shutters inside, wooden shutters outside and fan lights with the original stained glass. The furniture is rich and traditional.

RESTAURANT
Look out at the majestic Arabian Sea from your perch at the top of the spiral staircase. Choose from the dishes that have been prepared in Raheem’s bungalow for generations, like the famous Alleppey Fish Curry, Seafood Platter teeming with fresh prawns, seerfish and crab, Malabar Chicken and a strictly vegetarian menu with local coconut-flavoured vegetables. Continental food also available and on selected nights a special Chinese menu and Irish menu.
